New Zealand Container Certification Requirements

The following information was supplied by the Maritime Safety Authority of New Zealand:

''Design approval requirements apply to containers loaded in New Zealand for use offshore. This means, in effect, that no stock ISO containers are used in the industry.

New Zealand expects to have new requirements for design approval, manufacture and testing, maintenance and inspection (to be carried out annually by authorised organisations), and identification and marking for offshore containers in place late in 2002.

Pending the coming into force of the new requirements, MSA promotes the application of the recommendations contained in MSC/Circ.860 as best practice
